It’s hard to remember what I was thinking leading up to the birth of our first child. We hadn’t found out whether the baby was a boy or a girl. We wanted to be surprised. My opinion wasn’t strong enough that I would be disappointed either way.
I suspect I wanted a boy. I suspect I “had no idea” what to do with a girl. As if I had an idea how to raise a boy. Our first (and second and third) was a girl and now I’m pretty sure I “have no idea” how I’d raise a boy. As if I have any idea what’s in store for me down the road with these three beautiful girls.
So three kids, no boys. What’s a man to do? How about have seven nephews, zero nieces. If I ever feel a lack of stuck out tongues, kicks in the shin or a wet belches, I have plenty of places to go to get my fill.
